Scotch Sports Yarn is always satisfactory for a smart winter outfit. The double breasted coat has a military flare.
Two Minerva yarns, four needles, one timeless ensemble
The double breasted coat begins at the neck and is worked back and forth in Moss Stitch with raglan-style sleeve increases. A military flare is achieved through the front decreases and dramatic collar finish.
Starting at neck, cast on 52 sts. and work back and forth.
Continue to increase 1 st. in each front, 2 in each sleeve, and 2 in back and cast on 8 sts. at the end of the next 4 rows. There should be 46 sts. in each front (42 sts. in Moss St.), 10 sts. in each sleeve, 28 sts. in back.
Decrease 1 st. at each front edge every 12th row 8 times and work a buttonhole on right front every 6 inches 4 times as follows: Work 5 sts. in Moss St., bind off 8 sts. and work to end of row. Next row cast on 8 sts. over those bound off, continuing to increase in each of the 8 seam sts. until there are 35 increasing rows from start (384 sts. on needle). Raglan should measure 11 inches.
Work 74 sts. (front) and place on a thread or st. holder. On next 74 sts. (sleeve), work even for 7 inches. Change to Moss St., increasing 1 st. each side every 2 inches, 4 times. When sleeve measures 18 inches from underarm, bind off.
Work across next 90 sts. (back), and place on a st. holder. Work next 74 sts. (sleeve) to correspond to other sleeve. Work across next 74 sts. (front).
Join sts. of fronts and back, decreasing 2 sts. in a line with each underarm every 6th row 6 times, then every 4th row 3 times (36 sts. decreased). Change to Moss St. Work even for 2 inches.
On next row, work across 44 sts., increase in next 2 sts., work across 35 sts., increase in next 2 sts., work across 33 sts., increase in next 2 sts., work across 35 sts., increase in next 2 sts., work to end of row. Increase in this manner 8 sts. across the row every 2 inches or until work measures 36½ inches from underarm, bind off.
With 2 strands of yarn and No. 2 Steel Needles, cast on 111 sts. and work in Moss St. for 2 inches, bind off. Sew sleeve seams. Sew collar to coat leaving space for buttonhole on right front.
Blouse No. 4003
The dark green blouse of Shetland Floss repeats the green note of the tweed Scotch Sports Yarn, creating a rich, tonal ensemble ideal for the Paris winter season.
Worked in K. 1, P. 1 rib pattern with shaped front panels and delicate button detail. The pointed front hem is a signature feature of this design.
Worked in the round on a circular needle, the skirt begins in Moss Stitch and transitions to Stockinette with a series of gradual decreases that shape the silhouette.
Cast on 261 sts., join being careful not to twist sts. Work in Moss St. for 8 inches. Change to Stockinette St. Work even for 2 inches.
Work beading at top for elastic.
Crocheted in the round from the crown outward, the military-style hat is folded and fastened at one side as illustrated. Worked in Scotch Sport Yarn to match the coat.
Continue to increase 6 sts. in each round or enough to keep work flat, but do not have increases come over those of previous row, until work measures 7 inches in diameter.
Now work 1 S. C. in each st. around row for 6 inches. Then work 1 row of slip st. around edge. Fold crown as illustrated. Sew, turn down at one side and fasten with clip.
The entire blouse is worked in a two-row pattern stitch (K. 1, P. 1 across — Purl) that creates a refined ribbed texture. The pointed front hem and double-breasted button detail are signature features of this design.
Work entire blouse in this pattern throughout.

Work even until back measures 11 inches from start. Bind off 5 sts. each side for armhole. Then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 5 times. Work even until armhole measures 7 inches straight up from bound off sts. at underarm. Then bind off 9 sts. at the beginning of the next 6 rows (27 sts. each side) for slanting shoulder. Bind off remaining sts. for back of neck.
With No. 3½ Needles, cast on 3 sts. and work in pattern same as back. Increase 1 st. at front edge every 3rd row 15 times; at the same time increase 3 sts. toward underarm every other row 4 times, then 4 sts. 3 times, then 6 sts. 2 times, and 10 sts. once.
Decrease 1 st. at underarm every 3rd row 5 times, continuing increases at front edge. Work a buttonhole every 2 inches 6 times more.
Work 1 inch even after last decrease at underarm, then increase 1 st. every 6th row 9 times at underarm. Work 12 rows even after last increase at underarm, and bind off 5 sts. at underarm. Then decrease 1 st. at underarm every other row 6 times.
